Science Day in La Rochelle School !
The municipality of La Rochelle for the ClimACT European project organizes a Renewable Energy Awareness Day Thursday, June 7th, 2018 at the Marie Marvingt Elementary School, in the Laleu district of La Rochelle.
In association with the cooperative company “Enercoop”, a 100% renewable electricity supplier, the Pierre Mendes France secondary school, the organizations “Les Petits Débrouillards” and “Défi Energie 17”, workshops will be held for elementary school students. College students, their teachers and the organizations will propose scientific challenges on energy: “How to light a light bulb with lemons? “,” Heading or not heading to operate a photovoltaic panel? », « How to capture the energy of water? “. In addition, a class will present the work of students in the framework of the European project ClimACT: manufacture of a solar oven, solar mini-car race, and the presentation of the Eco-Code realized by the entire school. This energy day will be closed with a workshop on reducing our energy consumption presented by Enercoop around a snack for parents.
On this occasion, Gérard Gouron, the elected representative in charge of energy, energy transition and street lighting, will be there to meet the enthusiasm of children toward renewable energy. He will also answer question from the teachers and parents.
La Rochelle has committed in 2014 to integrate 20% of renewable energy in its consumption by 2020 on public buildings. In 2018, it has already passed the 18% mark thanks to its energy policy. At the same time, it aims to reduce its consumption and greenhouse gas emissions by 20%, in line with the Zero Carbon Territory objective piloted by the Agglomeration Community.
