ClimACT @ EU Regions Week 2018
The European Commission describes the European Week of Regions and Cities (EU Regions Week) as an annual event during which cities and regions showcase their capacity to create growth and jobs, implement European Union cohesion policy, and prove the importance of the local and regional level for good European governance. This event boosts a European networking for experts in regional and local development. Annually, in October, 6.000 participants (local, regional, national and European decision-makers and experts) attend the event for more than 100 workshops and debates, exhibitions and networking opportunities.
In the EU Regions Week 2018 edition, were included two important events: the RegioStars Awards and the Interreg talks: 6 projects, 1 Slam. The ClimACT project had an important participation in both events!

RegioStars Awards 2018
ClimACT was among the 21 finalists, between 102 applications submitted, competing in the category 2: Achieving Sustainability through low carbon emissions.
Interreg talks: 6 projects, 1 Slam
The Interreg Talks: 6 projects, 1 Slam, created by the Interact program, brought together high-impact Interreg projects. In Brussels, the finalist project was challenged to present itself to the public in a dynamic and interactive way. Following this concept, the ClimACT project invited 4 students from ClimACT schools in Portugal, Spain, France and Gibraltar, aged between 8 and 22 years to present the work done in ClimACT schools and explain the importance of each citizen’s role in combating climate change. In this challenge, the ClimACT project was awarded, bringing to Portugal the 2nd place in the competition!
More information about these contest and ClimACT participation will be available in the ClimACT Newsletter #3 which will be published this week! Don’t miss it!
Interreg Programme Stand
The Interreg programme invited the Interreg Sudoe ClimACT to be part of their stand, on 8th October, and be present to show the project to the participants of the event. ClimACT was invited to have in this stand an object which could represent the developed work in the project. So, for this purpose, a solar car created by students in the portuguese ClimACT School Padre Manuel de Castro, under the ClimACT project, was exposed there!
